September Was Full STEAM Ahead!
New connections, creative challenges and big ideas for the future. September brought plenty of reasons to be excited at the Schroeder Family Exploreum!
We welcomed students and families for our Destination Imagination informational meeting, hosted MOSO CAPS students and welcomed marketing intern Karrah, shared hands-on discovery at Prairie Day, and received help from Ozark Christian College volunteers preparing our space for what’s ahead.
Behind the scenes, our Education & Exhibits Committee continued planning the Exploreum’s next phases, while Turkey Trot preparations picked up speed. We also shared three new blog stories to keep your curiosity going beyond your visit!
Here’s a look at September’s highlights and how you can get involved. |

Big Imaginations. Bright Beginnings.
Our September 26 Destination Imagination informational meeting brought together students, parents and DI alumni for an exciting start to our partnership with Missouri Destination Imagination.
We recruited two Team Managers, connected with potential corporate sponsors and welcomed students from Webb City, Carl Junction, Joplin and homeschool families who have committed to teams.
Destination Imagination combines STEAM learning with creative challenges that help students build teamwork, confidence and problem-solving skills.
As Lauren shared, this partnership “gives students the creative freedom to fail safely and explore new areas of interest.”
What’s next? Lauren and the Team Managers will contact parents to arrange meetings. Students will meet their teammates and choose the challenge they’ll compete in this year.
Students can still sign up to join a team!

You Voted. Curiosity Won!
The Exploreum won a $500 donation from Nathan Eddy’s American Family Insurance agency, Eddy Insurance LLC, through its community voting opportunity!
These funds will support a Destination Imagination team, helping area students put their creativity to work.
Thank you to everyone who nominated, voted, commented and shared. And thank you to Nathan and his team for giving our community this opportunity to support local nonprofits! |

Our Education & Exhibits Committee has been mapping out Phases 2 and 3, visiting science centers for inspiration and planning exhibits and programs that support Missouri learning standards.
Joplin is home to careers in healthcare, manufacturing, trucking, technology and more. We want kids to explore those possibilities through hands-on experiences that reflect the people and industries right here in our region.
As our South Wing capital campaign moves forward, we’re looking for partners to help bring the next exhibits to life.
Could your business help spark a child’s next big idea?
Neely and Alaina would love to give you a tour, share our vision and talk about exhibit sponsorships and other ways to support the campaign.

Thank you to our Education & Exhibits Committee for the time, thought and creativity you’re putting into the Exploreum’s future!
